A new exhibit on the Vietnam War is opening at the New York State Military Museum on the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon.

The “Vietnam War Oral History” exhibit opens Thursday evening at the museum in downtown Saratoga Springs. The exhibit was done in conjunction with Professor David Kieran and the students in his Vietnam War course at Skidmore College.

The students interviewed 11 Vietnam-era veterans from Saratoga Springs and collaborated with researchers at the museum to form the exhibit, which also features memorabilia and artifacts.

Kieran, students and veterans will join museum Director Courtney Burns for Thursday’s opening. The event is open to the public.

The exhibit was created as part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s 50th anniversary commemoration of the start of the Vietnam War. The exhibit runs through November.
