SCHENECTADY — “The Woodswoman Project: A Tribute to Anne LaBastille” will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in Proctor’s GE Theater.
The event, which is part of Union College’s third annual Adirondack Week festivities, weaves together music, sound, images and light in a concert that honors the late LaBastille’s work as an environmentalist, author and feminist.
Performers at the multi-media concert, which was first presented last August at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, include the chamber ensemble Ricochet Duo, with Rose Chancler on piano and Jane Boxall on marimba.
The highlight of the event is “Solstice,” with music composed by Hilary Tann and references to LaBastille’s writings.
Images by Adirondack photographers Mark Bowie, Shaun Heffernan and Carl Heilman II are part of the concert.
The event includes a free post-concert reception with the musicians, who will be artists-in-residence on campus for the week.
Tickets are $20 or $10 for students and can be ordered online at www.proctors.org. Union College students will be admitted for free.
For more information about Adirondack Week, go to muse.union.edu.
The concert is being presented by Union College’s Kelly Adirondack Center in Niskayuna, the former home of conservationist Paul Schaefer and the Adirondack Research Library, the largest collection on the Adirondacks outside of the Adirondack Park.
