A bicyclist was seriously injured this afternoon when he ran into the side of a turning box truck.
City police said the box truck was eastbound on Church Street when it turned right onto Newton Avenue. At that point, the bicyclist, who was riding east on the sidewalk along Church Street, is believed to have run into the side of the truck, police said.
The bicyclist, a 27-year-old man believed to be from the Queensbury area, sustained severe cuts to his upper leg area, police said. There was concern about blood loss, but police said they believe he had been stabilized at Albany Medical Center.
The accident remains under investigation. Church Street was closed for much of the afternoon, but was reopened by 4 p.m.
