Sawyer Fredericks — nervous?
Well, maybe a little.
The 16-year-old Glen singer — and a sensation on NBC’s talent show “The Voice” — is feeling a little anxious as he prepares for upcoming shows Monday and Tuesday. Out of 49 contestants, Fredericks has made the final four. One singer will win $100,000 and a recording contract Tuesday night.

“I think it’s a lot of just nerves going into the finals just because there’s just so much on the schedule I have to do,” Fredericks said Friday morning in a phone interview. “There’s a lot that goes into it, so I’m pretty nervous going into it.”
The weekend was going to mean rehearsal. Fredericks said he’s been working more closely with coach Pharrell Williams.
“It’s awesome, he’s a great guy and he’s very calm,” Fredericks said. “It’s awesome working with him just because he has so many great ideas for the music. It’s just a joy working with him.”
Sneak preview for Monday? Fredericks can’t say anything — NBC would not appreciate any finalist spilling any beans for the big finale shows. “It’s going to be a surprise,” Fredericks said.
During the eight-minute interview, Fredericks talked about his “frontrunner” status — “Voice” judges have lauded his talents in the past — his fellow contestants and the L.A. lifestyle.
Come help us wish Sawyer well! The Daily Gazette is sponsoring events Monday afternoon from 4 to 8 at Robb Alley at Proctors in Schenectady. The afternoon’s events will include a Sawyer Fredericks look-alike contest, with a $500 prize awarded to the winner.
