Brendon Frank hit an RBI single in the first inning, and Danny Hobbs and Cory McArthur made it stand up as Saratoga Springs beat Shenendehowa 1-0 for the Section II Class AA baseball championship Friday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
Hobbs beat Shenendehowa for the second time this season, allowing three hits with one strikeout and one walk over five innings.
Hobbs continued to pitch after taking a line drive off his upper right cheek in the fourth inning. He worked around an error and a single in the fifth, getting a key double play in between.
Ian Anderson took the loss despite pitching a two-hitter. It was Anderson’s first varsity loss in two seasons.
Saratoga will play the Section III champ a week from Saturday at Onondage Community College in a regional title game.
