A former employee of a New York City agency has been convicted in the fatal shooting of a co-worker at their Hudson Valley office building last year.

An Ulster County Court jury deliberated for about two hours Tuesday before finding 55-year-old David Reese of Gilboa in Schoharie County guilty of second-degree murder in shooting death of Aron Thomas of Olivebridge. Reese shot the 33-year-old Thomas inside the Kingston offices of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection on Feb. 3, 2014.

Reese’s defense lawyer said Reese had confronted Thomas because he believed Thomas had broken into his home and was stalking him. Reese faces up to 25 years to life in state prison when he’s sentenced Aug. 13. His attorney said he plans to appeal the verdict.
