Siena College and the University at Albany have agreed to continue their men’s and women’s basketball series for at least another three years.
This year’s doubleheader will be held Dec. 15 at the Times Union Center. Next season, the series moves to UAlbany’s SEFCU Arena for the first time. The third season of the deal will once again return to Times Union Center, but both the Saints and the Great Danes will be part of a national multi-team tournament that includes two additional games against a “high-major” opponent, as well as an additional game against another mid-major.
The third year of the deal will not be included in either team’s season ticket package, but both schools’ season ticket holders will have a 30-day window to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
Since renewing their rivalry on Nov. 27, 2001, the Siena and UAlbany men have drawn 152,866 fans for an average of 10,919 per game. Siena has won nine of the 14 games, but UAlbany has won three straight and four of the last five. Siena leads the all-time men’s series, 32-22.
The Siena women lead that series 10-8, but UAlbany has won the last five matchups.
