An Albany man has been arrested in connection with a fatal April hit-and-run crash on Central Avenue, police said this morning.

The April 13 crash killed 54-year-old Colonie resident Renee Bruneau.

Arrested and charged this week was Lamar J. Jackson, 33, of Albany. He is accused of striking Bruneau as she crossed Central Avenue that evening and then fleeing the scene without reporting the accident, police said. Bruneau was taken to Albany Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

Jackson is also accused of further concealing the vehicle he drove in an attempt to hinder the investigation, police said. Jackson was operating without a driver’s license, police said.

Jackson was arraigned Monday night in Colonie Town Court. He has been held on a parole violation since three days after the crash.

Jackson faces one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death, a felony, along with one count of tampering with physical evidence, also a felony, and an infraction of unlicensed operator.
