A one-car rollover accident on the Thruway in Rotterdam this morning sent two people to Albany Medical Center, state police said.

Both of those injured were from Waterford. The driver, a 68-year-old man, suffered head trauma. The passenger, a 65-year-old woman, suffered what police called serious head and leg trauma.

The accident happened just before 6:30 a.m. on the Thruway near Exit 26.

The vehicle, a 2000 Ford Explorer, was traveling west when it rolled multiple times, police said. It came to a rest on the guide rail between the east and westbound lanes.

The driver was taken to Albany by ambulance. The passenger was taken by helicopter.
