The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce for the first time to produce the latest version of the Great Sacandaga Lake Map.
Typically, the map, last updated in 2012 and now on its seventh version, is a product only of the Fulton Montgomery chamber, according to Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, director of tourism for the chamber.
The map has about 200 listings to guide tourists around the region, from accommodations and attractions to dining and shopping. While the majority of the lake is in Fulton County, DaBiere-Gibbs said the chamber was happy to work with the Saratoga chamber to make a more complete map of the Great Sacandaga Lake area.
“My thought is that they wanted to do something for their lake community,” she said. “A lot of times there’s a focus on the track and downtown Saratoga, and they wanted to show off their other assets.”
While Saratoga County gets an opportunity to highlight its Sacandaga Lake assets, the Fulton Montgomery chamber benefits from the added visibility of having the 2015 map in Saratoga County tourism centers.
“It gets us in some Saratoga visitors’ centers and things like that we might not necessarily be in without that partnership,” DaBiere-Gibbs said.
With the addition of some Saratoga County listings that were not on the map before, DaBiere-Gibbs said the radius for inclusion was tightened a little this year.
“In the past, there might have been more Fulton County attractions on it,” she said. “They’re still on there, but we kind of were a little more selective to make it really the Sacandaga Lake area.”
As usual, the map reflects changes over the past three years, like business closings and openings, or changes of names or locations, to stay as accurate as possible. DaBiere-Gibbs said it also got a redesign for an updated look.
The map will be distributed at the Fulton County Visitor Center, at trade shows and in visitor packets and mailings, as well as the Saratoga County Chamber Visitor Center and several other locations in Saratoga County.
