A young man was shot inside his home on Delamont Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
The victim, in his late teens or early 20s, was shot in the head — near one of his ears — and leg inside a two-family home at 1053 Delamont Ave. around 3:40 p.m., according to Public Safety Commissioner Wayne Bennett.
The victim was treated by Schenectady firefighters on the scene and taken to Albany Medical Center, Bennett said. He said the victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Another resident at the home called 911, Bennett said. That person was the only other individual inside the residence at the time.
Schenectady police blocked Delamont Avenue from Craig Street to Steuben Street after the shooting. Police were going door-to-door interviewing witnesses.
Bennett said the suspect fled the scene. It is unclear if the suspect left on foot or in a vehicle, Bennett said.
