Gas is less than $2 a gallon at a few places in Schenectady, but that price isn’t close to one in Michigan: 47 cents.
The price hit that number Sunday at a gas station in Houghton Lake, according to GasBuddy.com.
Michigan became the first state to have gas under $1 in probably more than a decade, Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy.com, told ABC News.
The 47-cent mark came after a price war between three stations in the town, DeHaan said.
“This is something we don’t see often at all or ever,” he told ABC News. “That’s unheard of.”
The lowest prices in Schenectady today are $1.99 a gallon at both the Gulf station at 1031 Crane St., and at the Mobil station at 1126 Erie Blvd.
The current national average is $1.88, according to GasBuddy.com. A year ago on this date the price was $2.05.
