Schenectady police say Andre D. Lee, of Schenectady, was shot and killed this morning on Germania Avenue.
Lee, 30, was shot multiple times around 10 a.m. in front of 337 Germania Ave. in the city’s Hamilton Hill neighborhood, police Sgt. Matt Dearing said.
Lee was treated on the scene by Schenectady fire paramedics and Mohawk Ambulance EMTs and transported to Ellis Hospital.
He was listed in serious condition after arriving at the hospital Thursday morning, but police said he died around noon from his injuries. It is unclear where he sustained gunshot wounds.
There are no suspects at this time. Police interviewed neighbors on the street and will be reviewing nearby street cameras on Westover Place and Albany Street, Dearing said.
Dearing said multiple calls came in at 10 a.m. from people reporting multiple gunshots in the area. Five shell casings were recovered in the street.
Schenectady police blocked Germania Avenue to traffic for several hours on Thursday as they conducted interviews and collected shell casings.
Several bullet holes could be seen on the side of 337 Germania Ave. The house is boarded up and is owned by the city, according to property records.
Police were joined by members of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney and Schenectady Public Safety Commissioner Wayne Bennett were also on scene.
There was another homicide on Germania Avenue on Jan. 30. Marquel Fallen, 22, of Albany, was shot and killed while in a vehicle parked outside 315 Germania Ave. No arrests have been made in connection with his homicide.
Both incidents occurred in broad daylight. Police said they have no reason to believe the two incidents are related at this time.
Thursday’s homicide marks the second in Schenectady of 2016.
