A Schenectady police officer was injured after a foot pursuit of a suspect this afternoon, and is being treated at the hospital .
Officers went to 129 Elm St. around 1:15 p.m. to arrest a 15-year-old boy in connection with an outstanding family court warrant, police said.
The suspect, who is not being identified due to his age, jumped out of a second-story window and led officers on a brief foot chase.
Officer Samuel Gonzalez, who has been with the department for eight years, hurt his leg during the pursuit.
He was treated on the scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Ellis Emergency Room for further treatment. It is unknown how long he will be out of work.
The suspect has been charged with one count of assault in the 2nd degree, a felony, and one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
The suspect was sent to secure detention and will be arraigned in family court on his new charges and his outstanding warrant next week.
