Schenectady police are investigating an armed robbery that happened last night on Union Street.
Officers responded to a silent panic alarm at the Getty Mart at 1372 Union St. around 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to police.
When officers arrived on the scene the store clerk informed them that two men wearing all black had robbed the store, police said. They displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register.
The clerk gave the two men an undisclosed amount of cash. They left the store on foot, westbound on Union Street, according to police.
The clerk was not injured during the incident, police said. Police did not provide a description of the suspects.
Officers canvased the area for the men and interviewed people in the area at the time of the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
Members of the Schenectady Police Department’s Evidence Technician Unit processed the scene. Members of the department’s Detective Division are continuing to investigate the incident.
