Grammy-nominated rockers Gin Blossoms will headline this summer’s Schenectady County SummerNight 2016.
The free block party in downtown Schenectady will be held Friday, July 15, from 5 until 10 p.m.
The gathering also will feature performances by Moriah Formica and Stockade Kids. The performers won the Schenectady County Battle of the Bands competitions in 2015 and 2014, respectively.
Other musicians will play on Jay Street and in the MVP Health Care Kids Corner. Games and food will also be part of the night.
Events will be held on State Street between Broadway and Barrett Street and on the Jay Street Pedestrian Mall. A sand sculpture and a cannoli-eating contest featuring local celebrities also have been planned.
Gin Blossoms, known for tunes such as “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You” and “Miss Disarray” will be on stage at 8:30 p.m. The band will close with a special set for the fireworks show that will end the evening.
