No injuries were reported Wednesday afternoon when a bus caught fire in lanes leading to state Thruway Exit Exchange 24 in Albany.

Police at the scene said children were aboard the bus, which officers said was heading to The Great Escape amusement park in Queensbury.

The bus had been approaching toll booths where, once through, traffic can proceed north to the Adirondack Northway or east on I-90.

A group of children and adults was observed in a grassy area off access lanes, far away from bus. A large number of firefighters and several fire vehicles were also at the scene. Traffic leading to the exit exchange from westbound lanes of the Thruway was reduced to a crawl.

The fire occurred at 12:05 p.m.
