Casino operator Rush Street Gaming is starting the interview process for dealer positions at the future Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady.
The Chicago-based operator will launch a dealer school on Oct. 17, which will be located at 1482 Erie Blvd. It will run for 10 to 12 weeks. Another poker dealer school will start on Oct. 24.
The dealer school will train applicants, who are not required to have prior dealer experience, for future table game jobs at the casino. Applicants are required to be 21 or older.
Qualified applicants will be contacted in the next couple of days and weeks to interview for a position in the dealer school, according to a news release from the operator.
The dealer school will offer morning, evening and weekend sessions. It will be free to attend the school.
The dealer school is not being held at Schenectady County Community College, which has a casino and gaming management program, due to space limitations.
Rush Street is still accepting dealer school applications online. People are not guaranteed a job after completing the dealer school.
People can also apply online for all jobs at the future casino at riverscasinoandresort.com/careers. Rush Street plans to hire in phases up to early 2017.
The positions will come with competitive salaries and employees will be eligible for benefits including 401(k), health insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, free uniforms and free parking, according to the release.
The Rivers Casino is expected to open on the Mohawk Harbor site off Erie Boulevard in February or March. The casino’s adjacent 163-room hotel is expected to open about six months after.
The casino will feature 1,150 slot machines, 63 table games and a poker room with 15 poker tables. The casino will also have a High Limits room and VIP room.
