Four Schenectady men were arrested following two separate month-long investigations by the Schenectady County Sheriff’s office into the sale of heroin and crack cocaine.

On Sept. 14, the sheriff’s office’s Narcotics Unit searched an apartment at 4260 Queen Philomena Blvd. in Schenectady, and arrested two men there. Officers recovered $5,000 in cash and some crack and marijuana.

Jason T. Tatum, 34, was charged with two different levels of felonies for the criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Tatum is charged with selling more than one ounce of crack on two separate occasions, according to the sheriff’s office.

Harvey L. Mitchell, 34, was charged with one count of criminal possession of marijuana — a class E felony.

The Narcotics Unit also arrested two men and recovered an ounce of crack and a quarter-ounce of heroin during a search on Sept. 7. The men were residents of 4207 Court Royal in Schenectady.

Tyrell R. Francis, 30, was arrested and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance — both class B felonies — among other lesser felony charges.

Jimmy R. Robert, 29, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance — a class B felony — and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree — a class D felony.

All four men were arraigned and sent to Schenectady County jail without bail.

The arrests are the latest in a string of drug busts conducted by the sheriff’s Narcotics Unit. In late July, about 100 bags of heroin were recovered and vie people were arrested after a search at 905 Delamont Ave. in the city. On Sept. 6, the sheriff’s office announced that it had recovered 400 bags of heroin and a loaded weapon at a Carrie Street apartment in Schenectady.
