It's a time-honored tradition

On  Dec. 4, St. Mary’s Institute hosted our annual spaghetti dinner and auction. This year we celebrated a wonderful outpouring of support from our community who enjoyed a memorable afternoon of holiday merriment.
On behalf of the entire student body, the faculty and staff of St. Mary’s Institute, the Home and School Association, the School Board and Father Jeffrey L’Arche, I would like to express my deepest thanks to the community for supporting this important fundraiser.
This year’s event featured over 163 items in our silent auction, wonderful musical entertainment and a delicious homemade dinner prepared by Bill’s Dugout of Galway. This year’s dinner committee included Lori Stachnik, Joan Krohn, Christine DiCaprio-Yandik, Jeanette Constantine, Karen Miller, Jennifer Person, Christine Potter, Dianne Rossi, Susan Santos, Tricia Terleckey and Patrice Vivirito-Murphy. Many thanks are due to these women who so generously gave of their time and talents. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the many parents and family members who volunteered their time to sell tickets, work in the kitchen, serve dinners, bake desserts, design wreaths and so much more.
Our sincere appreciation goes to our corporate sponsors: AGT Services Inc., Alpin Haus, Century Linen & Uniform, Greno Industries, Horigan, Horigan & Lombardo, PC, Miller Printing & Litho Inc., and Upstate Utilities & Consultants Inc.
Thank you to our in kind donors Bill’s Beverage Center, Bloomfield’s Florist, Damiano’s Flowers, Faculty and Staff of SMI, Families of SMI, The Garden Bug, The Giardono Family,Lohse Florists, Lori Stachnik Events, Pecks Flowers, Price Chopper, Sweetbriar Flower Shop, Tricia Terleckey, Patrice Vivirito-Murphy, and White Cottage Gardens. We are very grateful to the many businesses and individuals who donated baskets and items for our silent and penny auctions.
Thank you to the talented lineup of performers who provided the musical entertainment for the afternoon — Rachelle Cotugno, the SMI Chorus, and Michela Riccio. Many thanks to SMI art teacher, Mrs. Christine Potter, for the lovely centerpieces and to our students for their artwork that adorned the hallways. Thank you to Mr. Cory Jensen, our middle school Social Studies and Spanish teacher and the 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes who did an amazing job serving our guests. You did SMI proud. Thanks to the SMI facilities staff for their hard work and dedication.
The St. Mary’s Institute spaghetti dinner is a time-honored tradition and a true community event. It is the result of months of planning, weeks of working, and days of fine-tuning rolled into one spectacular December afternoon. We look forward to seeing you next year.
