The Saratoga Performing Arts Center today announced the lineup for their partnership concert series with Caffe Lena.

“The collaboration with Caffè Lena that we launched in April has already exceeded our expectations and affirmed the power and potential of the right partnership,” said Elizabeth Sobol, the president and CEO of SPAC.

One Sunday every month, Caffe Lena will feature free afternoon concerts on SPAC grounds. The lineup includes folk, blues, country, string band, bluegrass and early jazz music, from groups like Steel Wheels and Birds of Chicago.

The concert will be held at the new Charles R. Wood Gazebo stage. The new gazebo stage, which is funded by the Charles R. Wood Foundation, will be approximately 25 by 21 feet, much larger than the present stage. Construction on the gazebo stage will be completed by the Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival on June 24-25.

In an effort to strengthen SPAC’s ties with the Capital Region community, SPAC will also be hosting the Saratoga Film Forum at the Spa Little Theater this season. The Forum is a non-profit organization that’s been dedicated to showing independent films in the Capital Region for the past 25 years. This summer season, many of the films will feature subjects that are relevant to SPAC’s summer programming.

“Independent film is an important avenue for expanding awareness, insight and a diversity of thought on issues and subjects that affect society, including the arts,” said Elizabeth Sobol, the president of SPAC, “Partnering with the Film Forum on an August series is an opportunity to support independent cinema in our community while creating meaningful connections to our programming and the performing arts.”

The Forum will take place from July 20-31, August 1-2 and 23-28. The film schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
