Ben Seiler tossed a perfect game Saturday, pitching seventh-seeded Albany Academy to a 5-0 Section II Class B baseball tournament semifinal victory over sixth-seeded Voorheesville at Gloversville’s Park Terrace Elementary School.

Seiler struck out eight. The other 13 outs were recorded in the infield.

“Ben mixed his pitches very well and together with great location, continuously kept hitters off balance,”

Albany Academy coach Dave Rider said. “There were very few balls hit squarely and none hit to the outfield.

“Because I chart each at bat, I knew exactly what was going on throughout the game. I kept quiet and didn’t say anything to anyone so as not to jinx Ben’s opportunity for a perfect game, but I knew I was watching something very, very special. He was in command from start to finish and threw only 79 pitches.”

Seiler also went 2-for-4 at the plate, with a double, and he drove in a run.

Brett Young had two doubles among his three hits.

The Cadets will play top-seeded Saratoga Central Catholic in the championship game at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The Saints beat 12th-seeded Johnstown 2-0 behind the two-hit, complete-game pitching of Terel Tillman. Kaden Learch had a double and single for Spa Catholic. Jake Hart and Nick Winslow added two singles each.

CLASS A

Dylan Pusz drove in seven runs with two doubles and a single, powering third-seeded Mohonasen to a 17-3 Class A semifinal victory over second-seeded Amsterdam at Plumeri Sports Complex.

Brandon Kruzinski added a double, two singles and four RBIs for the Mighty Warriors, who will play fourth-seeded Scotia-Glenville in the title game at 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Joe. A.J. Savoie had a double, single and three RBIs for Mohonasen.

CLASS D

Zach Reid delivered four singles and three RBIs as Fort Plain cruised to an 18-2 win over Germantown in the Class D semifinals.

Bryce Thibodeau had two doubles and two singles for the Hilltoppers, and Brady Fureno added three singles and two RBIs.

Fort Plain will face Fort Ann in the championship game at 4 p.m. Tuesday at The Joe. Fort Ann defeated Whitehall 5-4 in the other semifinal.
