Sheriff: Patient dies after ambulance hits tree in Duanesburg

A 63-year-old man died Wednesday night after a Mohawk Ambulance ran off the road and struck a tree on Route 20 in Duanesburg, Schenectady County Sheriff Dominic Dagostino said.

The man was being transported home from a local hospital. Authorities had not released the man’s name as of 7:30 p.m. The accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. The ambulance was the only vehicle involved.

The Duanesburg Volunteer Fire District and sheriff’s office were on scene investigating the cause of the crash, Dagostino said.
