19-year-old accused in robbery of 81-year-old woman

She also faces assault, grand larceny charges

SCHENECTADY — A city teen robbed an 81-year-old woman last month, knocking her to the ground and taking her purse, authorities said.

Police on Wednesday arrested Imiah Belle, 19, of Victory Avenue, on felony robbery, assault and grand larceny charges. A second suspect is being sought, officials said.

Bell and the second suspect are accused of robbing the woman just after 2:30 p.m. May 8 near the Family Dollar on Eastern Parkway, according to papers filed in court. The suspects knocked the woman to the ground and stole her purse, according to papers. The victim suffered injuries to her head and back that required medical treatment, according to papers.

Police filed the charges with help from statements by the victim and witnesses, as well as street surveillance video, according to papers.

Belle was arraigned and ordered held on $10,000 bail. She remained in custody Thursday evening.
