SARATOGA SPRINGS — The rain held out just long enough on Saturday for Shenendehowa students dressed in glittering gowns and tuxedos to grab some last-minute pictures on their way to one of the most important nights of their year.

After posing for pictures with their friends and families in the park, students made their way to the Saratoga Springs City Center on Saturday for the senior prom. Inside the center, a dance floor, buffet, and glittering silver decorations awaited them.

Natalie Sempreban, Autumn Green and Amber Malone, three Shenendehowa seniors who were attending the dance, said that they were looking forward to the music and dancing with their friends. Prior to the prom, they spent some time in the park taking pictures with ducks by the pond in the park.

Long gowns of all different styles and colors emerged from cars and, in one case, a massive, bright pink limousine. While some prom-goers said that it took them less than an hour to get ready, others had to dedicate a significant chunk of their Saturday to prom prep.

Emily DiNallo and Mia Longo, two Shen juniors who attended the prom, said that it took them hours to get ready. But, to them, it was worth it.

“The dancing, the pictures, and seeing everyone!” DiNallo said when asked what she was most excited for. With no after-party being held by the district, the two girls were also looking forward to hanging out with their friends later on as well.

The prom also featured a special guest. Musician Sawyer Fredericks, 18, of Glen, Montgomery County, attended the prom as well with a group of students. Reached on Saturday night however, a district spokesperson could not confirm whether Fredericks, who won the eighth season of music competition TV show “The Voice” had gone to the prom.
