ALBANY — A goat at Radix Ecological Sustainability Center was found to be rabid, the Albany County Department of Health announced Wednesday.

The animal has been euthanized, the county said in a news release, and is no longer a risk.

If you visited the center at 153 Grand St. and had contact with the goats between May 23 and June 6, contact the county Health Department at 447-4620 to determine if treatment is needed.

Rabies is transmitted via saliva, the release said — not via petting or touching an animal. But it can be fatal.
