WILTON — State police have arrested three teens in connection with two “bottle bombs” found last month at a Wilton car dealership.
A 17- and an 18-year-old from Stillwater, along with a 16-year-old from Middle Grove, were each charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. They are to return to court at a later date to answer the charge.
Police did not identify the teens, due to their ages. The arrests were made after police released surveillance photos of the people they believed were involved and received numerous tips from the public.
The three teens are accused of leaving the devices at the dealership early May 2. The devices did not explode, until after dealership employees discovered them, hours later. No injuries resulted from the devices, however.
The devices were made from common ingredients readily available in stores. When mixed in a bottle, the ingredients create pressure, eventually causing the bottles to burst and sending shards of the container through the air. The bottles are extremely hazardous to those making them and anyone who may encounter them, police said.
