Sawyer Fredericks, the winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” returned to the Caffè Lena stage for three sold-out performances over Memorial Day weekend.
His musical story began in area farmer’s markets and busking the streets of Saratoga Springs before finding his way to Caffè Lena’s open mics. The venue hired him for an opening set at age 14, just before his meteoric rise to national fame via network television.
Over the Memorial Day weekend, his fans from across the U.S. and Canada gathered at the venue to give him an enthusiastic welcome back.
In a Caffè Lena first, Fredericks’ performances were recorded live in HD audio and video and the best of the three nights’ performances have been assembled into one HD download via Vimeo.
Downloads of the 90-minute video ($5.99) will generate revenue for the nearly-complete renovation of the cafe. Fredericks is donating 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the concert video to support the $2 million Campaign for Caffè Lena. The venue still needs to raise $290,000 toward the completion of reconstruction.
Filmed by Sweet Spot Concerts, a Saratoga-based company, the video can be viewed at on Vimeo.
