Local woman celebrates 100 years

Louise Franchetti was born in 1917 and now heads a family of five generations

Louise Franchetti celebrated her 100th birthday June 20 with a huge family celebration and honors from local politicians. 

Franchetti, one of 13 children in her family, was born in 1917. She has three daughters, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Her oldest daughter, Mary Ann Foley, said 175 people attended Franchetti’s milestone birthday party at Treviso by Mallozzi’s in Albany.

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara presented Franchetti with a proclamation for her milestone age, and state Senator James Tedisco presented her with a citation.

In October, Franchetti received the Senior Lifetime Achievement Award at Beth Emeth, Albany, for her service of as a caregiver for her bedridden husband for a decade at their home.
