A trooper pulled over Jaquan D. Caldwell, 21, for speeding shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Interstate 90, heading east, police said. Caldwell initially pulled to the side of the road near exit four, but as a trooper approached his car, he sped off, police said, prompting a car chase.

Caldwell took exit 5, travelling along Watervliet Avenue Extension and Commerce Avenue when he lost control of his Jeep Cherokee and the car overturned. He took off on foot, police said, and was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Caldwell was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital for treatment of injuries to his head and neck, then was processed and transported to Albany County Jail. He was due back in court Tuesday morning.

He faces a litany of charges, including unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, reckless driving, failure to obey a police officer and speeding.
