WILTON — The driver of a tractor-trailer was sent to the hospital after crashing on the Northway early Thursday morning and receiving help from a passerby, state police said.
Rosaire Fleurent, 68, of Drummondville, Quebec, was driving north about 2:55 a.m. when his vehicle went off the highway’s west shoulder and hit a guardrail, cement barrier and the bridge support of the Wilton Gansevoort Road overpass before overturning and coming to a halt, troopers said
He was freed from the vehicle by another driver who stopped to help and sent by ambulance to Saratoga Hospital for treatment of possible internal injuries, troopers said.
The investigation is ongoing; no tickets have been issued, troopers said.
Wilton fire and EMS, along with the state spill response team and Department of Transportation, assisted at the scene.
