CLIFTON PARK — In an effort to hire more district bus drivers, Shenendehowa is offering people the chance to test-drive a school bus.
On Tuesday, the school district’s transportation department will conduct a “ride along” for those interested in becoming bus drivers. A trained district driver will allow prospective applicants to drive a school bus — while supervised — around the school campus. Recently, school districts throughout the Capital Region have been facing a bus driver shortage, with other employees often being forced to fill in as drivers.
The ride-along event will begin at 9 a.m. with a short classroom presentation, focusing on what it takes to be a school bus driver, prior to going out and driving a school bus.
Copies of job applications will be available for pickup after the demonstration.
Those interested should contact the Transportation Department at 881-0240 no later than Saturday.
