Police said a Guilderland woman, who was trying to injure her husband, struck a utility pole and a stop sign and nearly drove into a house all while under the influence of prescription drugs.
Town resident Patricia Dudley was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, a misdemeanor, first-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.
The Guilderland Police Department said in a statement that the incident occurred about 1:20 p.m. when officers responded a car accident on Terry Avenue in Guilderland. Police said Dudley struck a utility pole, shearing it in half, before fleeing the scene with her husband inside the vehicle.
Dudley drove off in an erratic manner, police said, onto Ronald Place before driving over a stop sign at Goffredo Drive and Terry Avenue. Police said she then drove onto the front lawn of 17 Terry Avenue, nearly striking the residence.
An investigation found that Terry was under the influence of prescription drugs and was intentionally trying to injure her husband, the Guilderland Police Department said in their statement.
Dudley was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
Portions of state Route 146 were closed for a short time Saturday due to damage to the utility pole.
