Shen field hockey cruises past Niskayuna

Shenendehowa took a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 4-0 Suburban Council field hockey win over Niskayuna on Friday.

Scoring for the defending Class A state champions were Olivia Howard, Jenna Graf, Kelli Russo and Eliza Branch. Goalie Sheridan Messier had four saves for the Plainsmen.

Niskayuna used two goalies. Julia LeBlanc stopped seven shots, while Alexa Lashway turned away four.

Lindsey Frank scored twice, leading Saratoga Springs past Columbia 5-0.

Jessie House had a goal and an assist for the Blue Streaks (2-0). Emily Leonard and Sara Philips also scored.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake improved to 2-0 with a 4-2 triumph over Guilderland.

Sydney Pleminik led the way for the Spartans with two goals and an assist. Courtney Kruzikas added a goal and two assists. Deirdre Rafferty scored Burnt Hills’ final goal. All of the goals were off penalty corners.

Madison Macchiarella had a goal and an assist for Guilderland (0-2). Halle Risko had the other goal.

Bethlehem beat Shaker 2-0. Tripanne Manuel and Sophia DeFrancesco had the Bethlehem goals.

Hoosick Falls shut out Granville 3-0 in a Wasaren/Adirondack game. Lillian Hickey scored twice, and Eliza Whitman once for the Panthers.

BOYS’ SOCCER
In the Western Athletic Conference, Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville beat Canajoharie 2-0. Jack Brundage and Braden Frederick had the goals for OESJ. 

Greg Maccharulo’s hat trick propelled Queensbury to a 3-2 non-league win over Skaneateles.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Led by Izzy Dennison’s hat trick, Queensbury defeated Glens Falls 11-1 in Foothills Council action. Christina Cummings and Cara Parker each chipped in two-goal performances for the Spartans.

Amsterdam erased a two-goal defecit in the second half and topped Broadalbin-Perth 5-3 in overtime. Haley Madej recorded a hat trick in regulation before Lucia Livero scored a pair of goals in overtime for the Rams.

Scotia-Glenville shut out Johnstown 4-0. Sydnee Smith scored twice, while Lauren Zeglen and Lexi Zatlokowicz each tallied a goal and an assist.

Schuylerville beat South Glens Falls 1-0. The game’s lone goal came from Amy Moreau, while Schuylerville keeper Caitlin Kelleher made 10 saves. 

Olivia Harris scored twice to lead Duanesburg over Sharon Springs 4-0 in non-league play. Emily Schaeffer and Allison McLaughlin were the other goal scorers for the Eagles.

Schenectady topped Hadley-Luzerne 5-1. Mykela Mayo and Dameree Corina each scored twice in the win.

William Augstell’s two goals led Shaker to a 3-1 defeat of Utica-Proctor. Demani Johnson added two assists for the Blue Bison.

Ballston Spa used four second-half goals to pull away in its 7-2 victory over Northville. Sarah Rule and Caitlin Wania each scored twice for the Scotties.

Heatly shut out Whitehall 6-0 behind a four-goal effort from Morgan Razzano. Hailey Fisk scored twice, while Alyssa Walls made 12 saves in net.

OESJ beat Fort Plain 2-0. Ashley Engle and Alexis Klock had the goals for the Wolves.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
On Thursday, Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons defeated Schenectady 27-25, 25-18, 25-11. Anna Dobkowski led the way with 22 assists and nine service points.
