Bastille plays the Palace on Tuesday

The British indie-pop quartet known as Bastille has seemed to be inescapable since their debut in 2013.

They’re slated to play the Palace Theatre on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

After they released the catchy singles “Pompeii” and “Bad Blood,” the group quickly caught the attention of alternative music lovers along with pop and dance music lovers. Since then, the band has released two albums, snagged a BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act, a GRAMMY nomination and two American Music Awards nominations.

Bastille began as a solo project by lead singer Dan Smith. He was later joined by Will Farquarson, Chris Wood and Kyle Simmons. According to The Telegraph, expanding his project into a fully-fledged band gave Smith the confidence he needed to take his music to the next level.

It turns out that level is pretty high. They’ve been either touring, playing international music festivals, or working on their next album since they started. “Wild World,” their second album, came out last year and it expands on what Bastille does best: infectious dance sounds mixed with harsher lyrics about loss and unease. With songs like “Good Grief,” Bastille pairs a catchy hook with lyrics like “Watching through my fingers … I’ll be dancing at a funeral.”

Bastille will be playing with FRENSHIP, a duo whose style is beachy pop, heavily influenced by their love for 80s pop music.
