SCHENECTADY — No charges are expected against a driver whose minivan went into Central Park’s Iroquois Lake on Wednesday, police said Thursday.

Witnesses reported the van rolled into the lake about 4:15 p.m. and the driver abandoned it as it began to roll.

Police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing said Thursday that the investigation showed no criminal wrongdoing in the case. Exactly how it happened was still being determined.

Crews took about a half-hour to tow the van back to land.

The van now joins two cars and a gar on the list of things found in Iroquois Lake in recent years.

A city pickup truck fell through the ice while plowing the frozen lake in January 2009.

A stolen car spent several months in the lake before being discovered and pulled out in June 2014.

And, in 2016, a wayward alligator gar in the lake caused a sensation before being pulled out by a fisherman.
