SARATOGA SPRINGS — Eight Mexican citizens in the country illegally were arrested this week in Saratoga Springs by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, officials said.

Deportation officers with ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations apprehended the eight Monday. All are citizens of Mexico between the ages of 20 and 49 and face administrative violations.

Two of the eight also face potential federal felony charges of re-entering the United States after deportation. If charged and convicted, they would face up to 20 years in prison, depending on criminal history.

The eight were taken to the Albany County Jail and held pending transfer to the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility.

An ICE news release called the arrests “part of routine, daily targeted operations.”
