Gloversville schools closed Friday for teacher’s memorial

She retired in June 2016

Gloversville schools will be closed Friday so staff and students can attend memorial services for longtime district teacher Maria Hallenbeck-Brown, who died Saturday.

Hallenbeck-Brown, who retired in June 2016, taught seventh- and eighth-grade math at Gloversville Middle School. In 2012, she started organizing annual “Math-A-Thon” fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which over five years raised $50,000, according to the district.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville.
