Marilyn Manson injured at concert as prop guns crash down

Marilyn Manson, the provocative rock star, was injured Saturday night during a concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, when a stage prop of two giant guns appeared to fall on him.

His publicist, Carrie Tolles, said that Manson’s injury occurred toward the end of his show and that he was being treated at a hospital. Tolles did not detail the nature or severity of Manson’s injuries or offer specifics about what had happened.

Videos from inside the venue appear to show Manson pulling on the stage prop before it crashed down, while music played in the background. Manson was performing his cover of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” at the time of the incident.

The concert was the third stop on a world tour for Manson, whose 10th studio album, “Heaven Upside Down,” is scheduled to be released Friday.

A 2015 article by The New York Times described an attempted career overhaul for Manson, who was known for his “cultivated prince of darkness aura” and “occasional unhinged behavior.” Songs on his upcoming album include “Tattooed in Reverse,” “Kill4Me” and “Blood Honey.”
