A Union College sophomore died Sunday following a medical emergency, according to a statement from school officials to the campus community.
“It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death earlier today of Alexander Askenazy, Class of 2020,” wrote Steve Leavitt, dean of students. “He passed away this morning following a medical emergency. Our condolences go out to his family and friends for this tragic loss.”
No further details were available.
Counselors were made available at the Wicker Wellness Center on Sunday afternoon. The Counseling Center is open to students from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the week. The college told students that a counselor is also available during off hours as well by calling Campus Safety at 388-6911.
