Clearing up errors about pump station
The Oct. 20, article [“New Schenectady pump station plan unveiled”] about the revised design and location of the new pump station in Riverside Park included a couple of statements that need clarification.
First, the new design features rectangular windows, not arched ones as stated in the article. The state Historic Preservation Office worked with the consultants to design a new building that will look distinct from the existing station with its arched windows.
Second, the original proposed location was not at a higher elevation. It would have taken up a large portion of the west side of the park, all of which is at the same elevation. The new design will take a much smaller portion of the park and leave the west side intact.
