SARATOGA SPRINGS — Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s 2017 season isn’t done yet.
“Live at the Jazz Bar,” SPAC’s after-hours swing event that followed classical music performances this year, will return for a special free program at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Spa State Park.
Dance lessons with Diane Lachtrupp and Johnny Martinez, co-directors of the Tango Fusion Dance Company, will kick off the evening, while the event will also feature live swing music from Annie and the Hedonists.
“The after-hours ‘Live at the Jazz Bar’ was a popular social scene following classical performances this season, creating an inviting speakeasy-vibe evocative of the jazz era that was flourishing when the Hall of Springs was built,” SPAC CEO and President Elizabeth Sobol said in a news release. “We are excited to announce that the series will continue into the fall and spring.”
The “Live at the Jazz Bar” series began earlier this year and features live jazz music by acclaimed regional and New York City ensembles. More events, all free, are expected later this year and in 2018.
“During ‘off-season’ months, we will be focusing on music that is both delightfully listenable and eminently danceable,” Sobol said. “During cooler months, we want to create a regular home for social dancers, as well as for connoisseurs of music and great atmosphere.”
