MAYFIELD — A three-hour search for a 16-year-old hunter who got separated from his hunting party Saturday evening ended with the hunter found safe, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
The state DEC learned just before 6:30 p.m. of the hunter lost on Tolmantown Road in Mayfield. The teen had become disoriented in the woods and couldn’t find his way out, the DEC said.
A DEC officer — along with Fulton County sheriff’s deputies and two forest rangers — searched the area and found him safe just before 9:30 p.m. They then walked him out of the woods. He needed no further assistance.
