'House of Cards' production still on hiatus after Kevin Spacey ouster

What’s actually in the cards for Netflix’s former tent-pole drama, “House of Cards”? That still remains to be determined.

Production for the political drama that once starred embattled actor Kevin Spacey has been on hiatus since sexual misconduct allegations against Spacey surfaced one month ago. In response, Netflix and the show swiftly cut ties with Spacey, and the sixth (and final) season of “House of Cards” halted filming in Baltimore.

While on hiatus, the production company responsible for the show, Media Rights Capital, had been paying its crew of about 250 to 300 people. On Monday, the company announced that it would extend their hiatus pay for the next two weeks, according to the Baltimore Sun, meaning the cameras are still off — for now.

“These last two months have tested and tried all of us in ways none of us could have foreseen,” the production company wrote in an email to the crew. “The one thing we have learned throughout this process is that this production is bigger than just one person and we could not be more proud to be associated with one of the most loyal and talented production cast and crews in this business.”

There’s no word on when production will start up again.
