What Postal Service has to say about holiday package deliveries

Looking to send a Christmas gift using standard shipping?

The U.S. Postal Services advises you do so no later than Thursday if you want it to be there by Christmas Day.

How about first-class mail? No later than Dec. 19.

Some area post offices are extending weekend hours to help customers:

More than 850 million packages will be delivered this holiday season, according to the Postal Service, which is up from 750 million last season.
