SCHENECTADY — A Clifton Park man accused of threatening Rivers Casino and Resort staff early Sunday morning fought with officers while they were arresting him, authorities said.
One officer, identified as Patrolman Dane Flavin, suffered a muscle strain and possible muscle tear in the struggle, according to court documents.
Angelo Castricone, 47, of Robinwood Drive, faces one count of second-degree assault, a felony, along with misdemeanor resisting arrest and violation disorderly conduct.
Castricone is accused of acting in a “violent and threatening manner” toward casino staff by game table 5 about 2 a.m. and then again with city police officers at the chip exchange, according to documents.
When officers ordered him to place his hands behind his back, according to documents, Castricone “actively resisted by violently fighting” with Officer Molly Winch to avoid being placed in handcuffs.
Flavin was treated at Ellis Hospital for his injuries.
Castricone was arraigned and has since been released on $5,000 bail, officials said.
The early Sunday incident follows the arrest of a Scotia man last week in connection to an October incident at the casino that involved a lost wallet.
Derek R. Adair, 32, was charged with two counts of felony fourth-degree grand larceny in connection with the Oct. 9 incident, accused of finding a dropped wallet on the casino floor and taking its contents — approximately $3,000 in cash, a debit/credit card and the owner’s personal identification.
