EDINBURG — A rare painting was allegedly stolen in October, and state police is now looking for the public’s help.
Troopers responded to a report of a burglary on Oct. 30 that occurred sometime between Oct. 27 and 30, according to a state police report.
A painting by Jenness Cortez of Cigar, the 1996 Horse of the Year, was allegedly taken. Only 250 of these paintings were produced, troopers said, and it is valued at $8,000.
Five fishing poles and a cordless drill were also taken, troopers said.
Investigators believe the painting may have been — or will be — sold locally to a buyer who did not realize the origin or dollar value.
Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 518-853-4708.
