A 77-year-old Schoharie County man has been missing since he said Sunday night that he was going hunting, according to county Sheriff Anthony Desmond.

Carl D. Weaver, of the town of Seward, has spurred a search by state forest rangers, county sheriff’s deputies, state troopers and local fire crews.

Weaver’s truck was located by a relative shortly after noon Wednesday at the intersection of Titus Lake and South Worcester Hill roads in Harpersfield, Delaware County. The search crews focused on the heavily wooded area near where Weaver’s car was found. But search efforts were called off due to darkness.

The search will resume Thursday morning, using a state police helicopter if weather permits, Desmond said.

Weaver is described as a white man weighing about 175 pounds, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with blue eyes and gray hair. Anyone with information should contact the county sheriff’s office at 518-295-8114.
