SCHENECTADY — City police arrested a burglary suspect last weekend in the act of carting off the proceeds — literally — with a shopping cart, authorities said.

Pedro Bonilla III, 59, of Eastern Avenue, now faces one count each of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.

Bonilla is accused of breaking into a Union Avenue apartment about 8:30 a.m. Dec. 9 and taking more than $1,600 worth of items, according to court documents. Arriving officers then spotted Bonilla near the corner of Jackson Place and Union Street, pushing the shopping cart with the burglary proceeds inside, according to court documents.
