Sheriff: Schenectady County jail inmate attempted suicide

SCHENECTADY — An inmate at Schenectady County jail attempted suicide Monday, but was saved by officers, Sheriff Dominic Dagostino said Thursday.

The inmate attempted to hang himself, but guards discovered the attempt and got him to safety, Dagostino said.

The inmate was taken to Ellis Hospital for a mental health evaluation, Dagostino said.
